Saddle Up Grandpa
What a blessing this year has been. We've celebrated my grandma Hudson's 80th birthday and today we were able to celebrate my grandpa's 82nd birthday. We met family for lunch at Texas Roadhouse. They wished him a "yee-haw" birthday while he sat on a saddle. He was such an awesome sport about it. Reid enjoyed hanging out with his cousin Cy while Noah was busy entertaining the adults at his table.
The Pumpkin Patch
We took the boys to the pumpkin patch today. We met up with some friends and had a great time! The weather was a little warm for my liking. I typically like to be dressed "fallish" for the pumpkin patch pictures, but today the boys were sporting their summer polos and their same tired summer shorts. What else do ya do when it's 85 degrees in October? The boys loved hanging out with their friend's Houston, Caleb, Ethan and Max! It was little boy haven in all that hay.
A House Divided
In Oklahoma..a "house divided" usually means there is an OSU and OU fan in the family. For us it's a little different. I root for OU, Rod roots for Texas and the boys are currently rooting for TX. Of course, I'm hopeful that this will change with time. Reid's quite confused about who he's going to cheer for, if you ask him he typically says he's rooting for the "OU-Texas team" and you might find him wearing his Texas jersey and his OU ballcap. Too funny. Noah's pretty sure that he is a Texas fan. We shall see how long this lasts folks...I'm hopeful they'll convert and be on mom's side. ;) All in due time...
The Wildlife Expo
Rod took the boys to the Wildlife Expo at the Lazy E while I went to see Jenn Hatmaker speak at a church in El Reno. (She is awesome by the way!!) The boys had so much fun. It was right up their alley..all that outdoors stuff! They made their own fishing lures, bow fished, pond fished, made rope, kayak'd and did lots of other fun stuff. Rod said it was a very well done event. They're excited about going back next year.
Handprint Quilt
My Grandma Hudson is an amazing and talented quilter! She quilts by hand so beautifully. As the homeroom mom for Noah's class, I had to come up with a class project that involved the kids for the Silent Auction at Deer Creek Elementary. I decided to let the kids do a handprint quilt. My grandma so graciously said she would quilt it for us. The co-homeroom mom so kindly sewed the topper for the quilt. It turned out absolutely beautiful! My grandma is so proud of it, as am I. I fought like crazy for that quilt at the auction last night. $135.00 later the quilt is all mine!!
Apple Tasting
Noah's class has been learning about "Apples" at school. On Friday his class had an apple tasting of all sorts of apple desserts, etc. Reid got to sit at Noah's table and enjo the apple goodies. He thought it was pretty cool that he was able to do this.

Star of the week
Noah is Star of the Week this week in his class. He had to do a little questionnaire about himself and then Mrs. Wiesemann decorated a bulleton board that is all about NOAH SMITH, the Star. I volunteered in his classroom today, so I was able to snap a picture of the board. I wanted to share his answers to the questionnaire. His answers are priceless and I plan to hold on to this forever!
Favorite Book: Because a Little Bug Went Ka Choo by Dr. Seuss
Favorite TV Show: Popeye
What I want to be: A college football player and a "lawn mowing guy" (I love this one!)
I would like to visit: California
Favorite Food: Snickerdoodle Cookies
Favorite Color: Blue
What I like best about myself: "that I can be a good sport"
I am special because: "I have friends and I'm a good big brother"
I wonder how these answers will change over the years! For now, these answers are PERFECT
